Job Summary

Assistant Professor, tenure-track, 9-month appointment. The successful candidate will instruct undergraduate and graduate courses in analytical chemistry and forensic chemistry, and other courses in chemistry as needed. The candidate will provide strong service to the department, college and university, as well as be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program in analytical or forensic chemistry involving both undergraduate and graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires an earned doctorate in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate potential for teaching, scholarly productivity, ability to secure external funding, and serving the university and profession.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with postdoctoral experience or related work experience, research that complement existing research in the Department, and a background or interest in forensic chemistry.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
