Job Summary

The faculty of the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado are searching for a colleague to join our vibrant and collegial academic unit. We seek a candidate with a research area in the biomedical sciences, and teaching expertise in anatomy and physiology. The position is a tenure track nine month appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will develop a research program that involves graduate and undergraduate students, apply for external research funding, and publish original research. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and supporting students from diverse backgrounds, and service to the school, college, university, and community.

Minimum Qualifications

• Doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Biology or closely related field
• Minimum two years of research experience past the doctorate
• Demonstrated research and publication record
• Potential for or past success securing external research funding
• Potential or past experience in supervising research students
• Ability to teach courses in the biomedical sciences, specifically anatomy and physiology
• Potential for or evidence of innovative, learner-centered teaching

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience at the university level
• Research area that complements existing departmental expertise
• The ability to mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
