Job Summary

Extended Campus, as an academic unit of the University, is charged with meeting the demand for new and relevant academic programs and professional development, primarily to adult learners, delivered online or off campus and in a cost-effective manner.

The Executive Director of Extended Campus is a collaborative, innovative leader responsible for developing and implementing a vision for an extended campus operations that aligns with and supports the university’s mission. The Executive Director oversees the extended campus operation, collaborates with Academic Affairs leaders to identify, create, deliver and evaluate undergraduate and graduate online, hybrid and off-campus face-to-face programs, and professional development offerings. The candidate will execute and oversee all phases of program development, delivery and evaluation, instructional design and development, support for faculty and courses related to high school dual enrollment. The Executive Director of Extended Campus also oversee the budget/expenditures of two programs within the Center for International Education.

The position requires sound fiscal and personnel management skills, excellent oral and written communication, creativity, self-direction, problem-solving and evidence-based decision-making abilities in order to proactively address educational needs of graduate students, non-traditional learners and high school students in dual enrollment courses.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in extended campus or continuing education role; higher education experience and demonstrated success in working with faculty, deans and directors from a wide variety of programs; experience in developing innovative revenue-generating programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred; years of experience in a leadership position beyond a minimum of five years will be considered to equate to doctoral degree depending on the direct relevance of the experience.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range is $75,000-$90,000. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
