Job Summary

The faculty of the School of Human Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado are searching for a Contract Renewable Lecturer/Instructor, promotion-eligible, 9-month appointment to join our vibrant and collegial academic unit. The position is centered upon clinic coordination for the residential and on-line master’s programs in speech-language pathology. The duties include teaching clinical courses online, hiring, training and supporting clinical educators. Providing clinic supervision and instruction to undergraduate and graduate students; provide service to the program and clinic. Additionally, the individual will work closely with the graduate coordinators to assure the program is meeting accreditation requirements. Summer employment may be available.

The master’s program in speech-language pathology is designed to prepare students for entry-level activity as speech-language pathologists. The program places an emphasis on preparing students to be life-long learners with a strong foundation in evidence-based practice (EBP) and academics. Our program is constructed within a framework of the clinician-researcher model. The program supports a well-designed public clinic within an outstanding physical setting that includes high-tech classrooms and lab facilities. The community has a number of local medical facilities which provide opportunities for collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires a doctorate in speech-language pathology or closely related field or an individual who meets the program’s tested experience criteria. To qualify through tested experience for instruction a faculty candidate who does not hold an appropriate doctoral degree must have:

1. Master’s Degree in Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, Speech & Hearing Science, or related field (e.g. health, medicine, psychology, education, business, public health)
2. 3 years of post-degree full-time experience (e.g. school-based SLP or audiologist) in the field relevant to the course being taught (language, educational audiology, etc.).
3. Clinical instruction faculty must also hold the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence or currently accepted standard of the accrediting body.

Experience in clinical education is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• expertise and experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Clinical education in speech-language pathology or aural rehabilitation,
o online teaching,
o supervision of instructional and/or rehabilitation professionals,
o grant writing and marketing, or
o evidence-based practice, principles and methods of prevention assessment and intervention.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
