Job Summary

50% (20 hours): The Athletic Liaison position exists to help facilitate the counseling centers commitment and responsibility for providing mental health training and services to student-athletes. This position will provide consultation for coaches, administration, sports medicine professionals, outreach programming and educational presentations on sport-psychology, emphasizing evidence-based practices for student-athletes. The liaison will provide open consultation hours, clinical outreach and referral, development of discussion groups for mental health needs in athletics, specific sports psychology assistance to teams and diversity trainings for staff and administration. This position will serve as a liaison specifically for students and professional staff in the UNC athletic department coordinating referral and resource accessibility.

50% (20 hours): Licensed Staff Psychologist this position exists to provide clinical and psychological support services for students dealing with stressful and/or emotional issues. This licensed professional will provide clinical assistance to individual students, couples, therapy and didactic groups, including psychological assessment, imperically validated therapy treatments, and when needed appropriate referral. This position will also provide necessary clinical supervisory support to the counseling center APA training program. This position will co-lead the Multicultural seminar and may provide supervision for a Doctoral Intern seeking a specialty focus in diversity liaison work or other area of specialization.

Minimum Qualifications

Ed.D., Ph.D., Psy.D. in counseling or counseling/clinical psychology, licensed as a psychologist in the state of Colorado or licensed in Colorado within three months. Strong generalist skills in assessment and time-limited solution focused individual, couples and group counseling. Excellent case management skills considerable knowledge and experience in consulting/crisis intervention, workshop presentation and training/supervision of graduate students or hourly staff. Must also possess good oral, written and interpersonal skills. Preferred qualifications: Minimum of one year’s full-time experience with a university counseling center.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference for experience as a former collegiate student-athlete, or having worked with student-athlete population, and sports psychology.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is $65,000 with a great benefits package. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
