Job Summary

The School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado is searching for a contract-renewable (non-tenure track) Assistant Professor in Psychological Sciences to support the development of a new PhD program in Applied Psychological Science. We are seeking a scholar whose research is at the intersection of psychological science and new and emerging technologies. Area of tech-focused research is open, but we welcome applications from individuals with a PhD from a wide range of sub-disciplines within psychology (e.g., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Quantitative Psychology, Applied Psychological Science), as well as those in a related interdisciplinary field with a strong psychological foundation (e.g., Cognitive Science, Health/Educational Technology, Cognitive Systems Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Machine Integration, Data Science/Analytics).
We encourage applicants to apply: (a) who value scientific literacy and interdisciplinary research; (b) whose research is focused on addressing societal challenges, large and small; and, in particular, © who have strong methodological (e.g., research design, quantitative and/or qualitative), and/or technical (e.g., programming, computational/systems modeling, task analysis, machine learning), and non-technical skills (e.g., communication, collaboration, innovation) that can help prepare students for work in the 21st century, whether in academia or industry. The successful applicant must have a PhD (or be ABD), and have an established record of, or show considerable potential for, excellent undergraduate/graduate instruction, advising and mentoring of student researchers, securing external funding, and making impactful scholarly contributions to their discipline. Post-doctoral research experience is preferred, but not required. The School of Psychological Sciences offers a B.A. degree in Psychology and M.A./Ph.D. degrees in Educational Psychology. New M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Applied Psychological Science are being developed. Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. or ABD in an applied or methods-focused area of Psychological Science, e.g., Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Quantitative Psychology, Applied Psychological Science. Applicants with a PhD in a related interdisciplinary field with a strong psychological foundation are also encouraged (e.g., Cognitive Science, Health/Educational Technology, Cognitive Systems Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Machine Integration, Data Science/Analytics).

Preferred Qualifications

Post-doctoral experience or experience outside academia in the public or private sector preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement programs. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed as 0.5 FTE or above are entitled to and eligible for Dependent Tuition Grants. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactory completion of a background check, educational check, and authorization to work in the United States is required after a conditional offer of employment has been made. The successful candidate must submit original transcripts within one (1) month of hire.
